Just Another Black Man Dead 1

Just Another Black Man Dead

Footfalls, Flashing lights, sirens racing
Cruisers coming together, tires screaming
A man on the ground, quiet and still
Hard boots kicking coming for the kill
He sees death coming, this beautiful day
He wonders why he has to die this way

The crowd disperse, the show is over
They hasten away, more urgent matters
Never mind, it’s just a black man dead
Never mind, just another black man dead

A country road a black child walking
Heart, dreaming of a great future coming
Suddenly shoved he falls to ground reeling
Blazing guns, a burst of racist jeering
He sees death coming, this beautiful day
He wonders why he has to die this way

The hunters walk away, their sport over
The world moves on without a bother
Never mind, it’s just a black man dead
Never mind, just another black man dead

In a place of equality, the person of color
Walks daily stalked by the racist killer
In a place of justice the law held in error
Daily used as weapon For racial terror
In a place of love rules a jungle creed
Death cruising the streets, a violent breed

Loud voices cry their anguished plea
Who do you call if a murderer is a law
Black voices cry their anguished plea
What will you say if my murderer is the law?

Never mind, it’s just a black man dead
Never mind, just another black man dead
